A warm welcome to Term Three.

In eight weeks time Ripponlea Primary School will be presenting their bi-annual concert ‘Let’s Go To The Movies’. A rip roaring, energetic, humorous  adventure into some of our favourite films and story themes. A fresh original script has been written by Fiona Harris for the 5/6links between the level items and hubby Mike McLeish has composed an original Opening and Finale song to compliment the story line.

In times past, the whole school production has been imbedded in the Performing Arts Curriculum for that year, with the majority of the creating and rehearsing taking place in the specialist music lessons.

Things have changed!

This year we have a new process that involves each year level being responsible for the creation and rehearsing of their own presentations. To assist the class teachers they will have the skills of our Term Three resident choreographer, Sarah McQuarrie, from ‘Stomp Dance’, who will be working on Wednesday’s, and Lynda Fleming, this year’s resident drama teacher, working on Thursday’s.

Already themes and music selections have been made and everyone is looking forward to putting together drama, dance and music elements to create their stage piece.

We will be needing parental assistance for costumes and hand props and scenery. Each level will be determining what their needs are and then items will need to be sourced, hired or made as required. You will be kept informed via the Year Level blogs, Performing Art’s blog and the newsletter. The level parent representative will become the main conduit for all communication.

Already this year we have seen our fantastic school community’s work in the wonderfully supported sports events and Ripper Art and the Art Attack Day. Here is another exciting opportunity to further promote how much we also value the Performing Arts at Ripponlea. Our pool of talented and skilled parents and teachers, collaborating on this valuable and worthwhile project, and giving all our students their moment to shine on stage.
