Grade 5 & 6 Term 2 update

So far this term we’ve been looking how music can create a mood or atmosphere. Students have been responding to certain types of music from film and TV.

We’ve look how audio and visual can compliment each other and enhance our listening experience . Like this example which features stunning imagery but also reflects the music and the words about growing up on the eighties. (Look out for the Space Invaders)

Last week they were on Garageband trying to create specific moods.

Which will lead us to their main task this term where the students will be creating their own audio visual clip.

ps. we’ve also learnt Space Oddity by David Bowie

Have a look at this video shot in space and sung by a real astronaut, Chris Hadfield.

What’s been happening in Music?

What? Fourth week of second term already? A lot has happened in the music room since the last post!

Be sure to visit the different levels to find out what has been going on in your child’s musical development.

Our 2015 School Choir is giving their premier performance in Assembly this coming Monday. It promises to be very entertaining, with the upbeat message ‘Have A Go’. This was certainly evident in the spirit of the Cross Country Event we all experienced  last week. Congratulations to everyone who participated!

The Cultural Diversity Day was a great opportunity to remember and even learn different songs and dances from around the world. The music room has never looked more colourful and vibrant.

Check out this video clip for an impromptu performance of some our Year 4  boys on the multicultural day.
